Simply explained: this is how the right to repair works – fair, sustainable and easy to understand.
What does it mean?
The "Right to Repair" means exactly that – your right to have a device repaired. It is meant to ensure that appliances do not have to be thrown away immediately when something breaks. Manufacturers must provide spare parts and repair instructions – so that specialist workshops like ours can properly restore devices.
The legal basis is the new EU Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2021/341, which obliges manufacturers to keep spare parts and repair information available for several years. With this, the EU strengthens consumer rights and makes an important contribution to sustainability and the conservation of resources.
Why is this important?
Repairing not only protects the environment, but also your wallet. A device that is repaired has a significantly longer service life – and avoids the loss of valuable raw materials that would arise from new production. Every repair saves CO2, reduces electronic waste and actively contributes to protecting the environment.
In addition, the right to repair raises awareness of sustainability and promotes a responsible approach to technology. Instead of disposing of functioning devices, they can be brought back into the cycle – a benefit for consumers, the environment and the economy alike.
Which devices are affected?
• Household appliances (e.g. vacuum cleaners, fully automatic coffee machines, microwaves)
• Consumer electronics (e.g. televisions, speakers, sound systems)
What does this mean for you?
You can bring your device to us or send it in. We inspect it, provide a fair cost estimate and repair only after your approval. This way you stay in control – transparent, safe and sustainable.
